AI Alone Is Not Enough. How to Build Resilient Digital Solutions? Advice from TAL 2026 Speakers
How can you design “Digital by Design” solutions that can scale and adapt without major interventions? And where should AI be applied so that it becomes part of everyday processes and still makes sense a year from now? Ahead of the Trends in Automotive Logistics conference, we asked this year’s speakers two questions that companies frequently face during digitalisation projects. Experts from Amazon, Škoda Auto and Aimtec share their perspectives. More insights and practical experience will be presented on 16 June 2026 in Pilsen. Expect real-world automation project stories and recommendations on how to avoid dead ends.

What should companies not overlook when building “Digital by Design” solutions?
Digital by Design begins long before operations go live – in data, simulations and process design. The key is to design solutions where both technology and people focus on what they do best, rather than adding automation afterwards. Equally important is the ability to scale and adapt without major interventions. Digital solutions should be modified through system changes, not physical reconstruction.

What should companies not overlook when building “Digital by Design” solutions?
Data is a fundamental aspect of the Digital by Design approach. Properly prepared data structures, clear data ownership and long-term data consistency are essential. Without a strong data foundation, it is impossible to build scalable, integrable and sustainable digital solutions.
Where should AI be applied to ensure long-term sustainability and real business value?
Today, AI is already becoming an indispensable tool, for example in content generation or the analysis of large data sets. Recently, I have been particularly impressed by its use in the rapid creation of interactive application prototypes, including simulations of specific functions and user interfaces, significantly shortening the journey from an idea to a real solution.

What should companies not overlook when building “Digital by Design” solutions?
In the past, the question was simple: by how much would digitalisation improve a process? Today, the real value lies elsewhere – in data. High-quality digital data is the prerequisite for automation, simulations, emulations, AI and mathematical solvers that enable companies not only to optimise logistics, but to fundamentally transform the way logistics processes are designed, tested and managed.
Where should AI be applied to ensure long-term sustainability and real business value?
AI is no longer just a supporting tool. It is becoming an active element of the digital ecosystem. Shipment planning, production scheduling or pallet building are tasks so complex that humans cannot optimise them in real time. Mathematical solvers, however, can handle them within seconds. We also use them to simulate different scenarios and evaluate the suitability of individual solutions in advance. This provides companies with a powerful tool for strategic decision-making.
