The worlds of logistics and manufacturing are all about speed, precision and reliability. Every second counts, and every error means losses. That’s why it’s important to have devices at hand that can handle demanding processes without delays. The Zebra MC3400 is a modern mobile terminal with top-notch performance, excellent connectivity, and ruggedness – making it an indispensable tool for anyone seeking improved process efficiency and stable access to data.

Improved design and performance that will surprise you

The new-generation MC3400 builds on the proven MC3000 range and enhances it with the latest mobile technology. It comes in two versions – the standard “brick” variant and an ergonomic version with a pistol grip that’s ideal for long-term work on the shop floor. Both versions offer high grip comfort and easy handling, helping users of this device to work more effectively.

What makes the MC3400 so unique? Firstly its surprisingly high performance. The heart of this device is an eight-core Qualcomm 4490 processor running at 2.4 GHz, ensuring snappy transitions even for demanding applications. Up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory are available – that means plenty of room for storing data directly on the device. In addition, you can attach a microSD card and expand the memory by up to 2 TB.

First-rate connectivity

Connectivity is another area in which the MC3400 excels. Wi-Fi 6E support means a quick and stable connection under all conditions, including large warehouses and open spaces. The MC3450 also supports 5G with dual nano SIMs and eSIM, thereby expanding the possibilities for its use in outdoor spaces and remote work centres. Its reliable connectivity ensures that all data is constantly synchronised and updated in real time – this is essential for effective logistics and inventory tracking.

Advanced scanning for every need

Another key feature of the MC3400 is advanced scanning. Zebra offers four different variants of this scanner – each optimised for a different type of application. The basic SE4710 is ideal for standard 1D and 2D codes, while the SE4770 model with a red laser provides better readability in bright light. Where there is a need to scan at large distances, the SE55 model with IntelliFocus™ technology enables you to read codes up to a distance of 12.2 metres. For extreme range, there’s the SE58 model, which can scan up to a distance of 30.5 metres.

Applications in automotive

In the automotive industry, precision and efficiency are key. The MC3400 can be put to use in a wide range of processes, where it reduces error rates and speeds up operations. During automotive assembly, it enables easy monitoring of parts and components in real time, helping to prevent production errors and ensuring a smooth flow of production. Thanks to its advanced scanning, a company can verify parts’ correctness and their placement on the assembly line, and so these devices help to increase productivity and minimise delays.

The MC3400 also streamlines continuous material replenishment on the production line. Precise inventory status data enables the optimisation of material logistics and elimination of production stoppages. The representatives of large production plants will appreciate the ability of this device to work under demanding conditions and its resistance to dust, impacts and extreme temperatures.

The MC3400 is also a great helper in quality control. The integrated 13MP camera allows workers to easily document part statuses and quickly identify any defects. Besides streamlining quality management, this tool speeds up claims handling and enables traceability of defective parts.

The MC3400 plays a key role in automakers’ warehouses during the shipping and receipt of goods, speeds up stocktaking and enables precise stock monitoring. Its stable connectivity and long battery runtime allow uninterrupted work throughout a shift without frequent recharging.

The MC3400 vs. the MC9400: Which device should I choose?

The Zebra MC3400 offers a great price/performance ratio and is the ideal choice for companies seeking a reliable and powerful mobile terminal at a reasonable price. Thanks to its compatibility with accessories for the preceding MC33 range, switching to this model is easy and inexpensive. Its rugged design and wide range of connectivity options make it a superb choice for most industrial and logistics applications.

However, if a company needs a device that can handle even the most demanding applications and extreme operating conditions (e.g., operation in freezers), it makes sense to invest in the MC9400. It offers greater ruggedness, better performance and longer support for future versions of Android. For environments where maximum reliability and ruggedness are key, the MC9400 is the logical choice.
