Zebra Technologies has introduced two hot new products that can work together to maximally improve work processes for all your operators. The combo of the Zebra WT6400 wearable hands-free terminal and the RS2100 scanner represents a unique union of comfort, ergonomics and productivity. What’s the potential of wearable devices, and what do the new products from Zebra Technologies bring to the market?
A smart watch? How about a full computer?
Just like smart watches have become commonplace today, wearable devices for warehouse operators bring many benefits that raise work efficiency and productivity. This hands-free technology lets operators work freely with the objects they’re handling, while also accepting instructions or scanning goods. These devices also minimise the need to constantly reach for hand scanners or terminals, saving workers’ time and reducing physical strain. Wearables’ ergonomic design ensures comfort even during long-term use, while also helping operators to keep precision high when they’re performing tasks at a high tempo or in an environment with limited space.
The WT6400: A wearable computer that won’t disappoint
The Zebra WT6400 is a modern wearable terminal made for demanding work environments. Compared to its predecessor, the WT6300, it offers a considerably bigger display, yet it remains lightweight and compact. It is ergonomic and comfortable for all-day wear.
This computer is equipped with a 13MP camera, a touch screen that works even with gloves, and a spacious integrated keypad. The terminal can also withstand high temperatures and works reliably even in refrigerators at -30 °C. Support for both wired and wireless scanners from Zebra Technologies makes the WT6400 a great tool for workers engaged in e.g. order picking, sorting goods and managing stocks in warehouses, distribution centres, manufacturing plants and more.
One major benefit of the WT6400 is its replaceable straps, which allow adaptation to different wrist sizes. A model with a keypad is available and works well for both left- and right-handers, making data entry easier. This terminal can be paired with wireless scanners over Bluetooth easily, or a cable scanner can be plugged in using the durable side connector.
The device is built on the Android platform, and thanks to its powerful latest-generation processor, it will support even future Android versions. The WT6400’s durable design and its shock and water resistance make it a viable choice for long-term use. Its display is protected with heavy-duty Corning® Victus® 2 glass that provides maximum protection from damage. Additionally, its batteries can be replaced during operation while leaving it on the user’s wrist, saving considerable time.
The WT6400 is compatible with a number of Zebra scanners, both wireless (RS2100, RS5100 and RS6100) and wired (RS4000 and RS5000). The RS5100 and RS6100 can even be powered directly from the WT6400 using a cable adapter.
The RS2100: A small yet handy scanner
The RS2100 is the smallest wearable scanner on the market, designed to increase worker productivity and comfort. With its weight of just 31 grams and its thin profile, it is ideal for fatigue-free long shifts. Its unique back of hand design frees workers’ hands for better handling of objects and work in tight spaces.
This scanner is easy to use, ready for immediate deployment and can be connected to a variety of devices over Bluetooth or NFC. Its PRZM Intelligent Imaging technology enables quick, precise scanning of 1D and 2D barcodes, including damaged codes. The IP54 rating and capability to withstand drops of up to 1.8 metre on concrete make this device the right choice for tough work environments.
The RS2100 also stands out through its flexible notifications for easy confirmation of successful scanning. By choosing different notifications, workers can instantly tell whether a scan was OK – they are notified by LED lights shown in their field of view, an audio signal and/or vibration feedback. The Device Tracker is another optional feature; it helps workers locate lost scanners. Compatibility with a variety of devices and easy pairing make the RS2100 a practical and cost-effective solution for modern corporations.
A harmonised pair you’ll come to love
The combination of the Zebra WT6400 wearable terminal and the RS2100 scanner provides an innovative solution for today's warehouses and manufacturing environments. Their ergonomic design, hands-free technology and durable construction significantly improve work efficiency and minimise physical strain on operators. These devices are ideal for long-term use in demanding conditions wherever precision, speed and comfort are prioritised. With their durable construction, ease of use and advanced features, the WT6400 and RS2100 amount to a reliable partner for every firm that seeks to optimise its logistics and manufacturing processes.
