Interview with prof. Dr. Heinz‑Jürgen Klepzig: Companies need cash!

Prof. Dr. Heinz-Jürgen Klepzig, who teaches at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg and mainly focuses on business economics and logistics, assessed the German and European automotive industry’s challenges and trends in an interview at the Trends in Automotive Logistics (TAL) 2024 conference, organised by Aimtec.

The most important topics in this interview were:

  • Cash flow optimisation: Effective cash flow is of fundamental importance for companies’ survival, and this is doubly true for automotive suppliers. Process digitalisation is an essential step for improving cash flow and ensuring an enterprise’s financial stability.
  • The shift to electromobility: The transformation towards electromobility plays an exceptionally important role for both automotive manufacturers and their suppliers.
  • The competition: On the growing pressure from cheap EV manufacturers, primarily from China.
  • The current situation: Stock markets as well as automakers are in decent shape, but they’re facing challenges in terms of long-term sustainability and competitiveness.
