Increased Transparency – Aimtec SCIx Supports Warehouse Management at Broetje‑Automation

Broetje-Automation is a global leader in production technologies for the aviation, space and wind power sectors, supplying state-of-the-art production and assembly equipment. Thanks to its extensive know-how and great enthusiasm for automation technology, it can offer its customers tailored solutions that meet their needs. However, this involves complex processes that require close coordination with customers abroad and place considerable demands on managing parts in the warehouse.

Due to the complexity of its projects, the company needs highly transparent warehouse management to keep all processes running as smoothly as possible. Broetje-Automation thus chose the digitalisation expert Aimtec as its partner for implementing a warehouse management system and integrating it into its ERP system.

From manual processes to greater warehouse automation

Broetje-Automation’s warehouses presented several challenges at once. The collection and integration of the necessary data were complicated by warehouse systems separated physically and at the system level, requiring more manual work, and by incomplete data transfer to the ERP. In addition, the warehouse with vertical lift modules was not integrated into the ERP system at all and was managed using a separate system. Digital data on individual parts was also not continuously available, making it harder to see which parts were available and to keep track of warehouse management as a whole.

For this reason, the company decided to introduce a comprehensive warehouse management system (WMS), into which the vertical lift modules were integrated as well. These measures improved things overall, giving Broetje-Automation continuous digital tracking of material receipt and issue processes in the warehouse.

Expertise becomes clear during implementation

The deployment of Aimtec SCIx made it possible to adapt the system environment to Broetje-Automation’s current needs. Its integration also helped the company’s Manufacturing Operations Management system, as it enables better use of synergies between logistics, production and shipping. The adapted ergonomic controls and logical ordering of transactions, in turn, helped employees to work faster and more accurately. The company now has a perfect overview of stock levels, as they can be seen both in the WMS and in ERP. Picking for individual assemblies has also been simplified.

Broetje-Automation is very satisfied with the new WMS in every respect. The system ensures complete transparency and visibility of stock levels and all material receipt and issue processes. The automation of central processes also contributes significantly to greater efficiency.

Another important benefit is simplified work with scanners. With their intuitive controls and short familiarisation period, employees can now start using the system quickly, without extensive training. This means significant time savings for Broetje-Automation’s everyday operations.

We chose Aimtec because we were convinced of its professionalism and flexibility. Aimtec was also the only supplier that was able to offer us a solution within our ERP system. The whole package therefore suited us in every respect.

The new warehouse management system has been running since June 2024. The system has given Broetje-Automation the visibility it needs to plan materials deliveries more effectively and optimise its warehouse operations. The company is now considering rolling out the system to additional production plants and locations.
