Zebra ZEC500: A Brain for a Modern Workstation
What if just a little box behind a monitor was enough to give you a powerful, secure and fully manageable enterprise PC? The Zebra ZEC500 Enterprise Computer does just that. This compact device is built on Zebra’s proven Android platform, which links the worlds of mobile terminals, kiosks, digital signage and the shop floor into a single smart ecosystem.
A humble hero behind the monitor
The Zebra ZEC500 is a freestanding enterprise computer that works as the “brain” for a whole workstation. Its exceptionally compact design makes it easy to attach to an ordinary monitor – without taking up desktop space or demanding complex installation. Simply attach a display of your choice – touchscreen or non-touch – to create a full-fledged workstation, kiosk or display panel.

Inside lies a Qualcomm® 5430 (2.1 GHz) backed up by a dedicated NPU for work with AI. That means plenty of performance for typical enterprise applications, but also advanced scenarios – like running small language models, translations or AI assistants for operators.
This device runs on Android, with support for future versions, and it’s fully compatible with Zebra DNA, which companies already know from Zebra mobile terminals and tablets. The Value version has 6 GB of RAM, while the Premium version has up to 8 GB. Support for external displays with up to 4K resolution (3,840 × 2,160 px) ensures a clear image that holds up even for detailed reporting or visualising production data.
What sets the ZEC500 apart from standard mini-PCs?
You can find a wide range of compact PCs on the market today that can be attached to a monitor or placed under a desk. The Zebra ZEC500 might at first seem like just one more. But this device is fundamentally different. The ZEC500 isn’t designed as an ordinary office mini-PC, but as a full-fledged enterprise device that’s ready for production, logistics and demanding operations. It’s built from the ground up with an emphasis on centralised management, long-term support, security and problem-free integration into enterprise IT environments.
| One platform for your whole enterprise | The ZEC500 uses the same Android enterprise platform as Zebra’s mobile devices. So your IT department can manage kiosks, workstations and mobile terminals in one environment using an MDM/EMM tool. No fragmentation, no complicated new training. |
|---|---|
| Wireless Workstation | One unique feature is the ability to wirelessly connect a Zebra mobile device and turn it into a desktop workstation. You just tap the device via NFC, scan a QR code or use the Zebra Wireless Workstation Connect app. You can mirror the device’s screen or work in full desktop mode – free from cables and docking stations. |
| Maximum connectivity | HDMI 2.0, USB-C with DisplayPort 1.4, three USB-A 3.2 ports, Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. Connect a keyboard, mouse, scanner, printer and other peripherals. With no compromises. |
| Socket-free installation with PoE++ | Support for PoE++ (IEEE 802.3at/bt) enables power and data over a single Ethernet cable – up to 90 W. This massively simplifies the installation of kiosks, display panels or shop-floor workstations. |
| Durability and a long life cycle | An IP54 rating, operating temperatures from 0 °C to 40 °C (standard version) or from −29 °C to 60 °C (extended version). Sales availability guaranteed for four years, with service support for a full eight years. This investment holds up long-term. |
A powerful tool for manufacturing, logistics and reporting
In manufacturing environments, the ZEC500 can serve as an operator workstation, a display panel for production KPIs or a terminal for access to the MES. Its 4K resolution support and high performance make it ideal for visualising data in tools like Microsoft Power BI or other BI platforms that can run on Android or in a web browser.
The ZEC500 is precisely the kind of device that links the mobile world with fixed workstations. Companies no longer have to deal with multiple platforms and complicated management. It all runs on the tried-and-true Zebra Android platform, with the same high-quality security and management they already know.
n warehouses and logistics it’s a good fit as a display unit for digital signage, shift-leader workstations or interactive kiosks. Used alongside Zebra mobile devices, it lets users flexibly switch between mobile and “desktop” work as needed.
Thanks to Wi-Fi 6E, support for WPA3 Enterprise and solutions like LifeGuard™ for Android™, regular security updates and strong cybersecurity are ensured.
